Free online notepad with tabs, auto-save, and syntax highlighting.
100% private, no download or signup. Everything stays in your browser.
Open the page, start typing, close the tab. Your notes are still here next time, because they were saved to your own device instead of somebody's server. No account, no install, no sync you didn't ask for.
Keep a shopping list, a draft email, and a code snippet open side by side. Double-click a tab to rename it, and switch between notes without losing your place — including your scroll position and folded sections.
Nothing you type is uploaded. Every keystroke is auto-saved to your browser's own local storage, which means we cannot read your notes even if we wanted to. Open the Network tab and watch: no requests go out.
Pick a language and get colour-coded editing for 20+ of them — JavaScript, Python, JSON, HTML, CSS, SQL, YAML, GraphQL and more — plus one-click formatting and code folding when a note turns into code.
It runs on Monaco, the editor engine behind VS Code, so it opens instantly and handles long documents without lag. Once the page has loaded you can keep writing with no connection at all.
Tidy up a JSON payload, format a YAML config, or park a code snippet somewhere safe without launching a heavy IDE.
Keep a separate tab per class or per chapter, write without distractions, and let every draft save itself as you go.
Draft an email or take meeting notes on a machine you don't own, and download the file when you're done — nothing is left on a server.
Everything you need to know about the notepad.
